Diplomacy Obama/Kerry Style

Two earth-shattering diplomatic announcements to report.

1 After much prodding and meetings between John Kerry and his Russian counterpart, the UN Security Council has passed a resolution-a resolution- saying that Syria must give up its chemical weapons. If they don't, there will be....

                                                                                                                          consequences.

What those consequences would be would require another resolution.

Of course, Kerry's counterpart, the Russian wind surfer, er foreign minister, still maintains that the chemical weapons attack carried out in Syria was by persons still to be determined. That means it has not been proven that Assad's forces carried out the attack- according to him. That will require more investigation, documentation and facts, not just allegations.

2 And this just breaking: President Obama has just announced that he has spoken to the Iranian president.

"Ah wunnerful, ah wunnerful, ah."

"EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton later described those talks as “substantial” and said they had set the stage for a new round of negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program Oct. 15-16 in Geneva."

Ah yes. the Baroness Lady Catherine Ashton, who has already met several times with the Iranians with no success.

She's the one on the right with EU head Herman van Rompuy

So let the talks begin. Let the talks drag out. Let the talks provide all the time the Iranians and Assad to complete their dirty work. Seems like we've been down this road before.

May I suggest as negotiator the one man uniquely qualified to represent the US?

"Call me, Obama!"
