Additional Info on MPAC Event in San Gabriel Valley

One of my colleagues has sent out this first-hand account of the event hosted by the Muslim Public Affairs council in the San Gabriel Valley on September 20.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Last night's MPAC meeting "Let's Be Honest" in San Gabriel Valley, was very dry and allowed few questions to be asked by the audience.  We were all given a piece of paper to write our questions down on.  You could see that the ones that were chosen, were very benign and non-confrontational.  Same format as last year's MPAC Annual Conference.  The talk entitled "Let's Be Honest" turned out to be a flop.  It allowed no honestly to come from the audience on hot button issues and was very controlled.
Edina Lekovic, from MPAC was very selective on the questions that she picked and placed the others in a pile to the side that was never touched again.  There were very few non-Muslims there, so the message there were apparently trying to convey landed on primarily Muslims within their community.
There was a female Muslim speaker by the name of Nahla Kayali.  She is from ACCESS California, a private social services agency that receives Federal Funds (she kept gloating about all the grants and money she is receiving from the government).  She stated that this year we will receive 70,000 Muslim immigrants into America from displaced places around the world and how critical it is to get them social and mental health services to their community.
She also stated:
  • 90% of refugees/immigrants coming to the U.S. are from the Muslim countries (Afghanistan. Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Somalia, Yemeni, etc)
  • She said that our communities are not be ready to handle the incoming refugees, in response to a question asked of her in the past from the Office Of Refugee Resettlement
  • She admitted that we get "Very few" refugees anymore from Cuba, Vietnam, and other non-Islamic countries
  • She said that for the next 10-15 years we will continue to receive 90% of refugees from Muslim countries.  Keep in mind this is someone who has a very close relationship with the Office of Refugee Resettlement and receives A LOT of money from our government.
  • She said that the main driving force behind these refugees coming to the U.S. is Churches (World Relief, Catholic Charity, Lutheran Social Services, etc).  Seems like churches/organizations are destroying America from within and don't even know it. "

Here is the happy report from The American Muslim on the event.

As per the above, another such event is scheduled for September 27 at the Islamic Center of Irvine featuring MPAC chief Salaam Mariyati. I have already played the Let's be Honest game with him when I asked him why he hasn't signed the Freedom Pledge from Former Muslims United.

Another featured speaker at the next event is Jamal Diwan. Here is a previous post on him, which mentions his tendency to quote Yusuf Al Qaradawi.

Most of the fighting is in Muslim areas of the world, naturally, that's where the refugees will be coming from. The Vietnam War has been over for 40 years, or 38, depending on whether you count from when Henry Kissinger got the Nobel Peace Prize for ending the war, or when the war ended.
