Juan Williams Attacks Sharpton and Dyson

Hat tip Hot Air

Hot Air is posting an op-ed by Fox News' Juan Williams in which he criticizes Al Sharpton and Georgetown's Michael Eric Dyson for their recent statements on the George Zimmerman trial, Bill O'Reilly, and race in general. Juan is a liberal, and  I don't always agree with him, but he is intellectually honest and much more thoughtful than the demagogue Sharpton and the academic bore Dyson.

Update: (Hat tip The Blaze)

And there is this response by CNN's Don Lemon to rap mogul Russell Simmons.

I do not assume that lemon is a conservative, but I do applaud him for saying things that fly in the face of the standard fare when it comes to race. It takes courage for Lemon and Williams to speak out, just as it does for black conservatives like Larry Elder, Shelby Steele, Thomas Sowell and many others. They have my respect and admiration. Rap moguls do not have my respect. neither do people like Sharpton and Dyson.

All the people mentioned, right, left and center, black, white and purple, are either a bit crazy or trying to protect their own lucrative turf... but I can't say I find Juan Williams particularly coherent either.

The differences between the Trayvon Martin killing and the Emmit Till killing include:

1) The jury verdict was not based on racism,

2) Zimmerman was not motivated by racism,

3) The general community sentiment was not that what Zimmerman did was A-OK, not even among all who were pleased with the verdict.

The fact that the jury was not motivated by racism, and that stand your ground laws were not motivated by racism, does not add up to, therefore, letting Zimmerman walk was OK, either.

Oh, and Sylvia's serves some darn good food, at a reasonable price.
