ACT for America Founder Brigitte Gabriel is scheduled to speak at a Tea Party event in Minnesota on July 29. No surprisingly, the local CAIR chapter in Minnesota is trying to shut down the speech. This is doubly important because we need to get the Tea Party involved in this issue nation-wide, so Gabriel's appearance is an important step. This is not about hating Muslims as people. We are countering the hate. We are the ones fighting for human rights.

Who is CAIR, with their twisted understanding of the First Amendment to preach principles to us. Let them or anyone else try to exercise their free speech in an Islamic country.

I know its a fine line when you criticize Islam that you may be fostering hate of Muslims. It is not my intent nor is it Gabriel's intent. But to remain silent in the face of everything that is going on around the world is to remain silent about Nazis because you don't want to foster hate against germans.
If the "talking points" are accurate, and I believe they are, I simply cannot understand how they foster "hate of Muslims".
Help me out here, Siarlys.

Facts are facts. If their is hate and violence within Islam, is it hateful to point it out? Is it hateful to stand up to it? Is it hateful to say we will not submit to it? We did not go to war against germany and Japan out of hate toward the German and Japanese people. Yes, there was considerable hate as a by-product, but we did not shirk from our self defense because we wanted to avoid hate.
Gary, it is relatively easy to explain the difference between "Germans" and "Nazis," just as it was relatively easy for Ho Chi Minh to explain the difference between "the American people" and "U.S. imperialism." However, what if we were trying to explain the difference between "Germans" and "Germanist" or "Americans" and "Americanism"?
I believe your INTENT is not to foster hatred of Muslims. I'm really not so sure about the company you're keeping. At least some of them (Geller comes to mind) seem to INTEND to foster hatred of Muslims. Their protestations ring as hollow as CAIR's protestations of respect for freedom of religion.
Actually, we did foster hate against Germans and Japanese as people while we were at war. Particularly in the Pacific theater, there were exhortations "Kill Japs, kill Japs, kill more Japs." We were at war with these respective nations. But we did tone it down when it came to actual occupation, and to treatment of prisoners of war once captured (more so for Germans than Japanese).
The difference is simple elwood. If you say "This hatred is what Islam teaches" then you are teaching hatred of all who adhere to Islam. If you say "We cannot tolerate any variant of Islam which teaches people to shoot at us" you are teaching self-defense, and inviting Muslims not in arms to be our friends and fellow citizens.

I acknowledged that there was hate directed to Japanese and Germans during the war.
As for Geller, I have heard her speak twice. I think I have a good feel for which Muslims she directs her fire.

It is a matter of preserving attitudes, prejudices, and justifications over reality.
Miggie, are you personally responsible, as a fellow Jew, for the hatred spewed by Meri Kahane? For that matter, are you represented by that rabbi who loves to hang out with Amadinejad?
The individuals in those videos represent themselves. Is David Duke representative of the people of Louisiana? of the USA?
Is Rap Brown representative of Herman Cain? Hey, they're both black. I saw a video of Rap Brown, I know how black people think. Don't confuse me with a video of Herman Cain.
