A leader of our friends in the Muslim Brotherhood is calling for a siege on the US Embassy in retaliation for alleged US support for the military coup that ousted Mohammed Morsi from power.

This, of course, is proof positive that nothing we do will ever please folks in that region. The current US administration has supported Morsi and the Brotherhood and criticized the military for ousting him.
Talk about damned if you do and damned if you don't!
It is now up to the Egyptian military to show that it can protect our embassy and our people in Egypt. If they can't, I suggest we pull them all out and close the damn embassy. Under Ambassador Anne Patterson, it seems only to be exacerbating the problem anyway. The last thing we need is a repeat of our embassy takeover in Teheran

One of the biggest problems is that the belligerent parties solicit allies. That aligns bigger and bigger powers against each other.
Let's withdraw ALL aid to countries who don't align themselves with us. It is stupid to give money to countries and people who hate us and would like to kill us. I would make voting at least a majority of the time with the U.S. at the UN a minimum threshold.
Simply put, it would keep conflicts at local levels and reward those with values like ours. Let the rest wallow in their own ignorance and blind hatred and see how well it does for them.
If China and Russia start supporting them, fine, let them drain their resources to support the constant demands of the ingrates.
.
I absolutely agree,Miggie. Let them have each other. The democratic and civilized countries of the world need to band together and tell the others to go to hell.
This, of course, is proof positive that nothing we do will ever please folks in that region.
Folks? You mean everyone in Egypt is lined up with the Muslim Brotherhood? If that's true, who were all those millions of people demanding Morsi's ouster?
You sure are shooting from the hip with the broad-brush stereotypes this week!
And in your response to Miggie, you seem to be telling Egypt's Copts (among others) to go to hell.
