Here is a clip of Chris Matthews apologizing to two African-American guests on his Hardball show "on behalf of all white people".

I assume this had something to do with the Trayvon Martin verdict. Was Chris apologizing for the death of Trayvon? Was he apologizing for the acquittal of George Zimmerman? Was he apologizing for slavery, segregation, Jim Crow?
I would respectfully suggest that Chris limit his apologies to those whites who practice racism and discrimination in their everyday lives. Our past is what it is, and we have accepted it. Acknowledgements and apologies for that past abound and are proper. I will even acknowledge that the Martin case has brought a lot of ugly comments about blacks in general out of the woodwork of the blogosphere. However, most white people today do not fit in that category. The biggest danger in black communities is not that some George Zimmerman type is going to come rampaging through the neighborhood killing blacks. The problem is that young blacks are being murdered by other young blacks. Who will apologize for that?
"Chris Matthews, you've got a weak show."

Funny. Prior to the Zimmerman trial neither the judge, nor the prosecution, nor the defense, nor the FBI, nor even Trayvon Martin's family/parents found ANY evidence of racial basis, and all essentially indicated by word or deed that no such thing existed in this case. The jury's verdict, plus the statements by the one juror who has had the guts to speak out (not yet refuted, I believe, by any of the other five jurors) would appear to support this conclusion.
Suddenly, post-trial, things are different. Many, even most (??), black people, as well as the other usual suspects (apparently including Matthews, who does not speak for me even if he thinks he does), and the parents, are now screaming for Zimmerman's scalp for racial bias when none previously existed. Even Obama, who made some statements relative to people accepting the verdict, is also talking like his tongue is tied down in the middle but loose at both ends. I don't know about anybody else, but I definitely detect inconsistency in his various statements in this regard. May just be me, however.
Obama is trying to cut the baby in half. He has failed to bring this country together. Instead, race relations are going backwards very largely because of his policies, and allies and people like Eric Holder and Al Sharpton.
