Recently, I signed a joint letter to both of my esteemed California Senators urging them not to support a bill being pushed by some "Republican" in the House named Dave Camp that would have taken federal employees and retirees like me and dumped us all into ObamaCare. No response yet from Barbara Boxer, nor do I expect one. But after the requisite space of several weeks, I get a typical auto-reply from Dianne Feinstein.

Dear Mr. Fouse:
Thank you for
contacting me to express your views on the Federal Employee Health Benefits
Program. I appreciate the time you took to write and welcome this opportunity to
respond.
I recognize that
over eight million Americans receive health insurance through the Federal Health
Benefits Program. I believe that changes to this important program must be
carefully considered to ensure that beneficiaries relying on it continue to
receive coverage for the care they need. I understand that you oppose H.R. 1780,
legislation introduced by Dave Camp (R-MI) that would require federal employees
to purchase insurance sold on the health insurance exchanges created by the
federal health reform law.
The Affordable Care
Act created state-based health insurance exchanges to serve as competitive
marketplaces in which individuals and small businesses can purchase health
insurance. The law intended for large employers, including the federal
government, to continue to design their own insurance programs or purchase
insurance for employees directly from health insurance companies. Starting in
2017, states have the option of allowing large employers to purchase health
insurance from an exchange if these companies wish to do so.
I appreciate
knowing of your opposition to H.R. 1780, and to changing the range of insurance
plans available to federal employees. H.R. 1780 is currently pending
consideration in the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health. Please
know that I will keep your thoughts in mind should this legislation be
introduced in the United States Senate.
Again, thank you
for writing. If you have additional questions or comments, please do not
hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. Best
regards.
Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein United States
Senator

Is there an answer in there somewhere?

The answer from her is that she has received your point of view but ignoring it.
It is not that the elected officials are supposed to comply with every opinion expressed by a voter.
It is the point that they obviously ignore communication from them. The notion that the citizens might have a valid point is entirely foreign to them.
At some point they have to represent the will of the people. At least that is the theory. It doesn't work out so well in practice in California. Remember Prop 8?
We have GOT to turn out this bunch of representatives at the next election.
Yeah, I think she agreed with you.
