Hat tip Findalis and Winnipeg Jewish Review
Here is an interesting report. The student government at the University of Manitoba has shut Israel apartheid week on campus as well as the anti-Israel student group that hosts it.

This is sure to stir serious debate and looks like it will end up in a Canadian courtroom. We have to remember that it is Canadian law at play here and there well could be some differences when it comes to free speech. One the one hand, I think a university has a right to remove an issue that is causing so much discord and marginalization of certain groups on campus, in this case, Jews. It could also be considered a campus safety issue. As to the free speech issue, even some pro-Israel Jews are not comfortable with this action and fear it could boomerang against Jewish students.
A case worth following.

A case of Jewish Law "Halakah" shutting down free speech?
Gary I did some more research and found out that one of the student union members that was leading the banning of the group is named Joshua Morry. From his Twitter account it appears he is both Jewish and a Zionist.
Another case of Jews shutting down critical debate on Israel?

Nelly,
Unlike you, I don't consider Zionism a pejorative. I recognize that there is a free speech issue here-by Canadian standards. So what is your point?
I am no expert on Jewish law since I am not Jewish. Again, within Canadian law, there is a valid discussion on free speech.
1 What is the specific jewish law that is being enforced here against non-jews (Honest question-I don't know.)
2 Can Christian law (canon law) be enforced against non-Christians? or Jewish law against non-Jews? In the case of blasphemy, I would guess that hudud shariah law can be enforced against non-Muslims.
