Kuwait: Why We Fought

This should warm the hearts of every brave American who fought to liberate Kuwait from Saddam Hussein's Iraqi occupation.

Of course, we did it largely to keep Saddam from hijacking Kuwait's oil supply, but if we could simply tap into our own vast reserves instead of depending largely on the Middle East and other shaky countries for our energy needs, we would not have to worry about their oil.

But that makes too much sense, so we had to send our troops to liberate Kuwait so they could pass a death penalty for blasphemy. This is spreading freedom?

As Ross Perot said, yeah, we won the Emir's gold-plated crystal palace back for him...

Isn't war time patriotic fervor wonderful?
