Syria has pretty much been judenrein since 1948 when the Jews of the Arab countries were driven out when Israel declared its independence. Now an ancient Jewish synagogue in Damascus has fallen victim to the Syrian civil war.

Both sides are blaming each other for the destruction. I am not sure it really matters.
