Finally Someone in Congress Wants to Ask Napolitano About Those 1.2 Billion Bullets

Sequester be damned. Our Department of Homeland Security has been preparing for the looming-now arrived -sequester by purchasing over a billion rounds of ammo. For what, pray tell? Certainly not for our Border Patrol agents who are issued beanbags for ammo.

I can't wait to see Big Sis (Janet Napolitano) on the grill under oath providing an explantion for this.

This a really strange strategy, if it is that, to me. What do they hope to do? Corner the market on bullets? Don't they know, there are manufacturers all over the world who would be willing to sell them all they can pay for.

It sounds like incompetence to me.

When I was in the Army I had an episode where I had to requisition some ammunition and I had no idea about how much to requisition and, to shorten the story, I ordered far to much. I had a bitch of a time trying to get the armory to take it back. How I finely got rid of it all (2 1/2 ton truck's worth) is another story.

I appreciate that this is on a much higher level by guys who are supposed to know what they are doing. Still, I can't believe they could be so stupid as to have some rational objective. It is more simply government, ideologically motivated, to do something that they think is right and makes them feel good.

It is what Thomas Sowell calls "Stage One Thinking."
