This is what happens when Big Government steps in to "save the ozone layer". The issue in this case is asthma inhalers.

Here is the rest of the story.

Here is a personal testimony from a friend of mine who has been affected:
"Well, Albuterol asthma inhalers top the lists on meds on any formulary as it is used for young, old, and for any standard breathing treatment in hospital, and the standard is Albuterol as a "rescue" inhaler. When the CFC was removed....to save the ozone layer.... the "formula" for the inhaler was technically changed, thereby removing it from the "generic" meds and sending it back to "brand name", so the insurance companies can charge and arm and a leg (for me $55) for the "new" formula, which by the way, takes up to 8x the amount to work as well as the old CFC. In other words, what used to be controlled by 1 "puff" of a CFC inhaler, might be controlled by about 5-8 puffs by the new kind. So, there you have it - the cost has gone from $5 to $55, and it takes 8x the amount to get any effect. Do the math on that.
Glaxo-Smith-Klein is the biggest maker of albuterol inhaler. Follow the money...."
What's next-a ban on farts? Do they make their way to the stratosphere too and cause harm to the ozone layer?

Fousesquawk hypocrisy at its worst. Does he prove that CFC is fine for the ozone layer? Not a word of that. Does he show that monopoly corporations have shamelessly taken advantage of a mandated change to jack up prices obscenely? He certainly has. What's the solution? To put in place sensible regulation that denies these companies their "patented" monopoly? Oh, no, perish the thought. Republicans are against all regulation. Blame those idiots who think its important to protect human beings from a sharp increase in ultra-violet radiation. The price increase is THEIR fault.
