Let me fill you in on his schedule in Wisconsin. By 11:30 am, people were lined up around ten blocks waiting to see him, roughly 3-5 across. Police had it organized so only two city blocks were closed to traffic, with ample parallel streets one block north and south. After some delays, the line started moving at a reasonable speed, and everyone remained in good spirits until we all filled the room at the Midwest/Frontier/Delta Airlines convention center. (There's been some consolidation among the sponsors).

President Obama arrived about 3:15, to a tremendous roar of applause from around 3000+ people. He said everything that he needed to say. Basically, he's running for a second term to be the champion of those who don't have millions of dollars to spend on lobbyists, because for free enterprise to work, everyone needs to get the benefits.

Everyone left fired up. We're going to carry this election Tuesday.

Hell, Gary, I saw George McGovern in Dayton Ohio in 1972. But this was the first time I've been within ten feet.

I also saw Illinois state senator Obama in Washington Square Park in Milwaukee in 2004, where Gwen Moore praised his inclusiveness and concluded "... I was going to say he's not a man or a woman." The state senator took the mic and began "My wife does know whether I'm a man or a woman Gwen."

This year, Gwen (our congress rep -- I still have two mint condition t-shirts from her 2004 campaign), warmed up the crowd with quotations from a number of Republicans on the subject of rape. We have a state senator who has outdone Akin and Moordock: "Some girls rape easy." And you wonder why a lot of us aren't voting Republican this year?

I wish George Romney were available. He was a man of vision and integrity. He would have made a fine president. Instead, we got Richard Nixon. Mittens isn't one tenth the man his father was.

Gary, I haven't read your blog in a long time because I couldn't take the stupid comments of some of your fans anymore.
I happened to have spent the last three weeks away on a trip and also happened to have been in New Jersey the night "Sandy" struck. What I want to say is, that I was ashamed of the conditions of the infrastructure, the downed wires from old and not properly maintained electrical poles. The houses, the streets in terrible shape, and you want the republicans, who are directly to blame for the miserable economy and conditions by having spent money on fighting useless wars oversea, and as soon as Romney would get into office we'd have another war. because he owes it to his friend Netanjahu who is calling for election two days after the president takes office. The mormons believe to be the thirteenth tribe of Israel. Read the book. God help America. You need to stick your nose out into the real world but according to what I read you are not able to do so anymore.

Ingrid,

What a silly rant especially your comment about Mormons. I don't agree with them on religion, but I know that 99% of them are solid law abiding citizens.

As for NJ, their present governor notwithstanding, it is a state that has been run by corrupt Democrats and their mob-linked union pals. That's why it's in miserable shape.

As far as the real world is concerned, I have spent my life there-as you well know by now.

I know you were married to an American and lived in San Francisco, but I really don't think you know much about America and its people. You can't judge this country and its people by SF and NJ.

And I hope you are not blaming Israel and the Jews for the societal mess that exists in Europe-including Germany, where you are living again.

I missed how these places were no longer part of the United States.

Hopefully you meant "the whole country", but that's true of any two random places that you pick.
