State Dept Spokeswoman Gets Grilled

Hat tip The Blaze

AP reporter Matthew Lee is shown in the below-linked video from The Blaze giving State Dept Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland the 3rd degree over the comment by Turkish president Recep Erdogan that "Israel is a terrorist state".

Here is how I would have answered Mr Lee.

First of all, it is Gaza that is a terrorist state. Israel is trying to stop the rockets being launched daily from Gaza into its cities. Mr Erdogan, who is an Islamist, should remember that recently, Syria fired rockets into a Turkish border town and Turkey responding by firing rockets back for several days. What is the difference, Mr Erdogan?

Were I the hapless, Ms Nuland, I would have asked what the US would do if Cuba were launching rockets into Miami. I'll you what we would do (if we had a real president). We would do to Cuba what Israel is doing to Hamas in Gaza.

Were I the hapless Ms. Nuland, I would have trotted out some pictures of cities like Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, and Tokyo as they appeared in 1945.

And yes, innocent civilians are dying. One big reason is that Hamas, like all terrorists, likes to launch their rockets and do their fighting from the middle of the civilian population. They want civilian casualties so they can show them off to the international media. Gaza happens to be one of the most densely-populated areas in the world.

As for Turkey (and I say this with sadness), it is time that somebody tell Erdogan to go to Hell. If Turkey wants to be part of the EU and continue in NATO, they need to stop with this Islamist direction. Under Erdogan, they are not acting like a country that has any business in either organization.

Unfortunately, I am not the State Dept spokeshole.
