More Academic Baboonery-Montclair State University

Hat tip Front Page magazine and Campus Reform.com

You can't make this stuff up, folks.

Meet Medieval English professor Grover Furr of Montclair State University in New Jersey. He says he has researched the history of the Soviet Union and can't find one single crime that Josef Stalin ever committed.

I will not attempt to refute Furr's claims because they are so preposterous on their face. I think the questioner did a good enough job although crazy speakers always have supporters in university audiences as evidenced by the applause in the video.

What concerns me is that we have so many boffos like Furr in universities all over the country. They actually stand in classrooms and tell this stuff to their students, many of whom graduate believing this crap.

"Professor Furr sends his respect."

I guess that murdering millions of your countrymen by starvation is not a crime any more.

Well, it's a good thing he's teaching Medieval English and not Russian history. If he approaches that subject with the same bit of buffoonery as he does Stalin's purges, then I'll be much more worried. (Or if he gets a job teaching anything related to Russia or Stalin.)

I suppose it's like a math teacher who believes in intelligent design. So long as he's not teaching science, he should be entitled to his silly beliefs.

I think at times some of what Gary focuses on is kind of kooky. Then I read what UC Irvine Professor Mark Levine writes and see his praise of Green Party candidate Jill Stein and how Obama is failure and I get the other extreme.

Both have a right to share their viewpoints and I like checking out both views at times.

But someone could look at either at some points and come to conclusion that they are wacky. Not as wacky as this guy though.
