Dept of Defense Time Line on Benghazi

"Obama, Panetta and Army General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, discussed potential responses to the unfolding events in Benghazi during their meeting, which began 78 minutes after the start of the Libya attack, according to the timeline."

Yesterday, the Pentagon released its own time line outlining their military response to the Benghazi attack. What it stressed was the claim that there was no way to get a force to Benghazi in time to save Ambassador Stevens (and Sean Smith) from the initial attack on the consulate itself.

"Panetta and Dempsey then returned to the Pentagon and began a two-hour series of meetings with General Carter Ham, head of Africa Command, and other senior military leaders from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. EDT (12 a.m. to 2 a.m. Libya time) to organize responses to the attack"

What is missing here is why was Africom commander Carter Ham relieved of duty (in Washington) on the spot? Was it because he was determined to send forces to Benghazi-as has been reported?  And it still doesn't explain why no military support was sent to Benghazi in time to aid Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, who were killed at the CIA annex 7 hours after the initial attack began.

"As the Pentagon meetings got under way, a six-man security team from the embassy in Tripoli, which included two Defense Department personnel, left for Benghazi, landing at the airport at 1:30 a.m Libya time (7:30 p.m. EDT)."

Those were the only people who made it to Benghazi.

There is no doubt in my mind that everyone who was wearing a uniform on that day was chomping at the bit to send a force to Benghazi within those 7 hours. Only men in suits could have told them not to.

Anyone who has served in the military can tell that the most despised among themselves were the "bugouts." Those were the ones who bugged out and were not there when needed. We all depended on each other and if one was unreliable, he got an attitude adjustment or shipped out.
A military cannot operate otherwise. It needs coordination and a willingness to go into danger to help wherever and whenever you could.
Why there was no deployment of resources before the actual attack is shameful. Why there was no aid sent immediately during the attack is despicable. Why it was lied about for some weeks afterward is Obama.

So what? You'll get free stuff! That was what this election was based on... who could be relied upon to keep the free stuff coming.
