The below story is being reported by CNN. It involves the Taliban execution of an Afghan woman who was apparently involved with two different men who were quarreling over her.

The TV report notes that the men were cheering as the woman was shot nine times. They don't say what; the video tells the answer, as does the linked written report. I'll give you a hint; they were not shouting, "Cubs win!". There is also a vague reference to some sort of a trial. Of course. An imam heard the "evidence" and pronounced sentence.
Let's be honest. This was a so-called honor killing. It's been going on in Afghanistan for hundreds of years. We can say that it underscores why we are fighting the Taliban. If they return to power, they will resume doing this in soccer stadiums in Kabul. But even if we obliterate the Taliban, who is to say that it won't continue to happen in villages like this?

Hundreds of years? It's been going on since before Alexander the Great!
Too bad they aren't up to the level of the Code of Hammurabi... if the woman is dead, at least they would have tied both men to her and dropped them into a river to drown.

I still think that photo makes her look like Queen Eleanor in The Lion in Winter, or some woman of that era.
She's a joke. I saw her speak at UCI a couple of years back. She tried to convince us that the Taliban was nothing but a bunch of harmless old curmudgeons. She is so obnoxious they released her after a few days. They couldn't take any more of her.
