Update on OIC's "Defamation of Religion" Drive

Hat tip to Gatestone Institute

Ann Snyder, writing for the Gatestone Insitiute, updates us on the efforts of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to pass their so-called "Defamation of Religions" law through the UN. She also brings us up to date on the complicity of the Obama administration through Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the State Department.

US law and our constitution already address speech that incites to violence. It is distinct from hate speech. Inflammatory words, in order to be illegal, must directly incite violence. It is a tricky definition, but is necessary to protect free speech, which granted, occasionally includes hate speech. Last week, UC Irvine was once again treated to hate speech through the presence of Amir Abdul Malik Ali and his anti-Semitic rants. Ali does, in fact, engage in hate speech. Yet it is constitutionally-protected speech. Do I want to see Ali prosecuted for what he says about Jews? Absolutely not, odious as it is. First of all, it would take us down that slippery slope of who defines what hate speech is. It would take us to where Europe-supposedly free- is right now. Ask Geert Wilders.

Is it not now time for Congress to hold hearings on this issue and bring in Ms Clinton to explain just what is going on behind closed doors with the IOC?

The Supreme Court would UNANIMOUSLY strike down any application of any treaty that infringed the First Amendment. Quit with the crude paranoia. You are starting to sound like German-language broadcasts into the Sudetenland.
