The Dutch Are Waking Up

Hat tip to Gatestone Institute and Dee

Finally, the Dutch are awakening to the fact that they have a problem in their country. Finally, it appears they are trying to fix it. Soeren Kern has written an article for Gatestone Institute.

During the 1960s, when this influx of workers into western Europe was in its early stages, I was in Germany with the US Army. At that time, Italians and Turks made up the largest segment of the foreign workers in Germany. The Turks have had a mixed history in Germany, but many have prospered, remained and created a new generation.

The problem, however, in Europe as a whole, there was no need perceived to assimilate the immigrants. They are paying for that now.

Other countries like Britain and France are also coming to the conclusion that multi-culturalism is a deceptive concept. It sounds great, but when the host country subverts its own culture in bending to the others, everybody gets hurt. Sure, we can respect the other cultures that have come to our shores, but we don't have to make a production of it. It is never racist or too much to ask of immigrants that they assimilate and respect the laws, values and traditions of the country they choose to immigrate to.

Hopefully, this Dutch measure will spur other countries to take similar actions. In this case, the proverbial little Dutch boy is not keeping his finger in the dike. The water is simply being run through a purification (Dutchification) plant, if you will. And you know what? It will be to the immigrants' advantage too.
