Steve Emerson's Investigative Project on Terrorism has a disturbing article on the increasing threat to Jews world-wide as a result of increasing tensions in the Middle East.

What this article highlights is the fact that if terrorist acts break out in the US, Jews will be the prime targets. This is not war as we thought we knew it. This is violence directed against civilians, men, women and children because they are Jews.
We have already seen the groundwork laid for the past few years as anti-Jew feeling has increased both here and in Europe. The prime movers for this hate are the Islamists. Note I did not say Muslims in general. It is the militant Islamists and jihadists, who hate both Israel and the Jewish people as a whole.
Unfortunately, they have found fellow-travelers in the West, generally leftists who have jumped on the anti-Israel bandwagon and have turned against Jews in Europe and America as well. In Europe, it is a combination of leftists and neo-Nazi skinhead types.
But it is not the latter groups who talk of bombing synagogues and Jewish targets. It is the former. We need to face it and confront it. We need to challenge our Muslim leaders to also speak out against this hate. Unfortunately, most of them in the US are busy talking about Islamophobia, as if Americans were planning to bomb mosques and kill innocent Muslim citizens-which they are not. They are denying that this hatred even exists. In effect, they are pushing their own communities farther and farther into isolation from American and European society.
The question for us in the West is whether we are going to let our Jewish brothers and sisters re-live what happened to Jews in Europe back in the 1930s in the years that led up to World War II and the Holocaust. The response from the Europeans to the wave of violence against their (few remaining) Jews has been shameful. I once thought that Americans were a different breed than Europeans and that we would never stand for that here. Unfortunately, however, forces here want to see us become just like Europe. This issue is just one of many reasons why we should not try to emulate the Europeans. I hope we are still a different breed.

Self-styled "leftists" who think that either Jews or Israel are their enemies are sadly ignorant of the history of socialism, communism, and the working class movement (which are three different things, although with some overlap).
Jews who think it is their duty as Jews to support the current government of Israel are setting themselves up.
Of course a Jewish person who DOES support the current policies of the Israeli government is free to do so, no more and no less than a Methodist. They can't hide behind their Jewishness when someone criticizes them for bad judgement.
Killing anyone for their words is an act of treason to the First Amendment, therefore to the Constitution of the United States of America. But is is not prosecutable as such, unless it can be construed as levying war against the United States -- which is might, or might not, actually be.
