Eric Holder-2011 Fousesquawk Jerk of the Year
Eric Holder has finally found a case he wants to investigate-the New York Police Department's intelligence probe into radical Muslims who could pose a threat to our safety. Holder stated this week he was concerned about "what he has read in the newspapers." Below is a sympathetic view from CBS that contains a line that I think is very telling when it comes to that other Justice Department problem (Operation Fast and Furious).

"The AP has reported that some of the NYPD's activities — such as its 2006 surveillance of Masjid Omar, a mosque in Paterson, N.J. — could not have been performed under federal rules unless the FBI believed that the mosque itself was part of a criminal enterprise. Even then, federal agents would need approval from senior FBI and Justice Department officials."
Gee whiz. If DOJ agents are supposed to get senior agency official and DOJ official approval just to conduct a surveillance on a mosque, don't you think they would have needed similar approval to set up an operation whereby agents in Arizona watched straw buyers purchase guns then break off surveillance and go home for dinner while said guns were transported over the border to Mexico-to kill 200-300 Mexicans and eventually two US agents?

But Eric Holder is on the job, folks. He's going to bring down the weight of the federal government and his corrupt Justice Department to investigate his law enforcement brothers and sisters of the NYPD for, for, for......just what is it they did that was illegal? They went across the river into New Jersey? They looked onto Muslim Student Association websites outside of the city that local MSU's might have been communicating with? Holder should know that violators of every stripe cross jurisdictional lines all day long. What was the NYPD to do if, for say, a suspect under investigation had connections with someone else in New Jersey or wherever? Do they just stop their investigation because it takes them to another jurisdiction?
Of course, the proper answer is that they contact their police colleagues in the other jurisdiction and ask for assistance. If they did not do this, it's not the first time. It may not be the right thing to do in terms of respecting another jurisdiction. However, it is not a case for DOJ to investigate as a possible violation of some law, just because the targets have a strong lobby.

Americans should stand up and support the NYPD against this latest attempt by the Holder Justice Department to thwart a legitimate law enforcement effort to protect us all.

Well done Gary, on two points. The first point is that you expose the far-left tendencies of CBS ad the AP. Clearly, these agencies want to smear police agencies, as the President did with the Cambridge police, and, put the poor oppressed Muslims on a pedestal, victims of a police state. The other point is that you expose Eric Holder as the goof he is (you did give him the award). For Holder to claim, in a pressor, that he is starting a review of the NYPD because he "reads the paper", makes me shake my head. Maybe he can get rid of all his staff and just read the Leftist newspapers.
Judith Miller did a good job of exposing this poor excuse for a Director of the DOJ, by pointing out the "Handschu Guidelines" that clearly allow the NYPD and other LEAs to investigate open source information. One wonders If Holder even knows what these guidelines are. If he did, there would be no "review". Does Holder get a "Rusty Award as well?

Holder is so focused on issues of Race, that unless the defendant is white or some organization that is trying to do something about Islamic terrorism, he isn't interested. He is a liberal ideologue through and through and that will be the kind of "Justice" his department will produce.
You believe that guns, not people, commit crimes then you pursue a Program to demonstrate that point with gunrunning to and fro Mexico to establish a "severe problem" that the Government MUST fix right now. That it went all bad is another problem.
You believe that Islamic Extrmists are just getting a bad rap, then you "investigate" agencies that are trying to protect their citizens. What he reads in the newspapers "troubles" him. Apparently the plots that they foiled don't matter to him. The head of the NYPD is white, isn't he? Must be an Islamaphobe! Can't have that.
Obama and his administration have put race relations ( and everything else) back 50 years in this country.
