BBC Report on Honour Crimes in UK

Hat tip to Gates of Vienna and MRC-TV

The normally politically-correct BBC has done a documentary of so-called "honour crimes" in Britain, which has been picked up by MRC-TV and Gates of Vienna. For those of you not familiar with the term, "Asian" in the UK, they are not usually referring to Asians as we would in the US. To us, Asians are Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Filipino, etc. That would also apply in the UK, but the Asians they are referring to in this report are from South Asia, specifically Pakistan, and to a lesser extent, India, from where most of the Asian population in the UK derives

That, folks, is Sharia law. Keep it in mind the next time you hear some smooth-talking, so-called moderate figure like Feisal Abdul Rauf or Muzammil Siddiqi explain to you how Sharia is perfectly  in conformance with the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

If anyone finds a moderate Muslem to explain how Sharia law conforms to the Constitution ask, besides the propriety of honor killings, ask about polygamy, forced marriages, female genitalia mutilation, and the other aspects they choose to minimize.

Mark Steyn writes about a situation in Canada whereby you can have a Muslim wedding over the telephone! So you can have a marriage arranged with your cousin in Pakistan and do it over the phone with two imams on each end. The whole thing takes just a few minutes. Then the new spouse gets their rights of citizenship on the spot!

Frankly, I don't know if that is the case in the U.S. It may even be " legal " but it seems like a immigration scam to me.

Back on point, there are far too many of these "honor" crimes here. They are horrible stories and I wonder where the women's organizations are who should be leading this fight.

Sharia is in the eye of the beholder.

It means whatever the speaker says it means.

Those who say it is consistent with the Constitution of the United States practice a version that is.

Those who say it requires slitting the throats of Jews and disobedient wives believe it.

Rather like the difference between Methodists and Fundamentalist Mormons.

Miggie, even one "honor crime" is too money, or even one murder for any reason, but exactly how many are you talking about?

Polygamy, incidentally, is perfectly acceptable to Torah law. Jews in Europe abandoned it to reduce friction with their Romanized Christian neighbors. Forced marriages have, until relatively recently, been almost universal throughout the world. Female genital mutilation is a pre-Islamic practice, which survives only in areas where it previously existed. There are parts of Africa where Christian converts defend it in Christian terms.

In the U.S. spouses have to apply both for entry and citizenship. It is not automatic.
