OC Register Editorial on Global Warming

Today's Orange County Register has a lead editorial that will give Global Warmers a case of indigestion.

http://www.ocregister.com/opinion/global-338432-warming-energy.html

The Earth's temperature hasn't increased significantly in about 15 years, which wouldn't be big news except global warming extremists had predicted temperatures would soar during that time because of manmade greenhouse-gas emissions.
That forecast would be just another failed hypothesis, except governments around the world used the threatened overheating as an excuse to regulate, tax and subsidize in order to curb greenhouse gases and, of course, to save the Earth.

In 1989 the Miami Herald quoted a U.N. environment official who warned of a "10-year window of opportunity to solve" global warming, because "entire nations could be wiped off the face of the Earth by rising sea levels if the global warming trend is not reversed by the year 2000." We know how that turned out.
There are new forecasts today. We're not much more confident about them, but considering how far down the costly road to combating global warming the world has gone, they are worth noting.
Great Britain's heretofore hotbed of global warming alarmism, East Anglia's Climate Research Center, now says there been no meaningful warming since 1997. Indeed, the Earth may even be cooling, according to Britain's Meteorological Office. The Met, as it's called, said we are entering a period of slower solar activity, perhaps as severe as the solar slump from 1645-1715, the coldest part of the Little Ice Age, when Britain's river Thames and Holland's canals froze over.\

(Wasn't it that CRU at E Anglia that supplied the data used that led to a Nobel prize for Al Gore?)

Warmists may have seen this coming. Five years ago, climate scientist Kevin Trenberth lamented that none of the touted computer models that predicted temperature increases "correspond even remotely to the current observed climate." If temperatures merely stay flat, the difference between real temperatures and what the global warming models predict "will eventually become so great that the whole scientific community will question the current theories," said Duke University scientist Nicola Scafetta, whose specialty is theoretical and applied statistics.

"Warmists". I like that.

We are beginning to see effects of the disasters that did not pan out. A British Parliament committee urged the government to scrap a carbon tax that would drive up electricity prices with no environmental benefit. The Spanish government suspended subsidies for new renewable-energy power plants. Stocks tumbled for companies reliant on such handouts.
The New York Times reported that "wind and solar companies are telling Congress that they cannot be truly competitive and keep creating jobs without a few more years of government support," but the lobbying "comes at a time when there is little enthusiasm for alternative-energy subsidies in Washington."
Two days after President Barack Obama's State of the Union message alluded to the firm Ener1 as a successful clean energy "investment," the company filed bankruptcy, despite its $118 million Energy Department grant to make electric-car batteries. It was the latest of several troubled government-financed renewable energy companies in the mode of the bankrupt solar-panel maker Solyndra.

Sixteen noteworthy scientists published a statement this week in the Wall Street Journal, pooh-poohing global warming alarmism, assuring the public, "there's no compelling scientific argument for drastic action to 'decarbonize' the world's economy."
Perhaps as meaningful as any of this was the president's State of the Union concession that further domestic fossil-fuel development is needed, to the horror of global warmists and environmental zealots.
There's a long way to go to reverse taxes and regulations that for years have fed alternative energy industries at the expense of taxpayers, ratepayers and producers of cheap and plentiful energy. California, for example, just adopted the nation's most stringent vehicle emission regulation to achieve a 50-percent further reduction in greenhouse gases by 2025, and a requirement that zero-emission vehicles constitute 15 percent of all vehicles sold by 2025, compared with 1 percent today."

I have said enough in my comments regarding this issue, but will state once again that man made global warming is doo-doo.

The computer model that Al Gore used failed to include in to the program the effects of volcanic eruptions and sun spot activity (or lack of it).

It was a failed model. Just like the failed theory.

Would you believe those IDIOTS at NASA are already denying these facts? First they fake a "moon landing" and now they fake this crap! What's next? They'll tell us that they've gone to Mars and get Michael Bays to direct the "footage"!

Also, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is claiming that every year of this new century ranks in the top 13 hottest years since they started taking records!

Can you believe it? That directly contradicts the TRUTH that's in your article!

Well, I've got news for the NOAA - your noaa gonna convince me to believe your COMMUNIST propaganda!

Bravo to the Editors of the Orange County Register for taking a stand on the false global warming claims created by pseudo science and those who would make huge profits from the carbon trading scam. First, global warming is now a fantasy, as indicated in the editorial and revealed by scientists who have solid data from true scientific methods. Second, this stand will help stem the tide of a wash of carbon traders who would have made trillions of dollars from this fantasy. Third, this whole global warming issue is about profit and not saving the planet. The United Nations is still pushing the global warming agenda in order to siphon money from the world’s countries, in order to fund the organization.
Earlier in 2003, an organization called the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) had claimed to be the only carbon trading business in the United States. With investments from organizations and individuals like the Joyce foundation and Al Gore, the CCX was about to start on the road to incredible profit. Barack Obama was on the board of the Joyce Foundation at that time. The Joyce Foundation was also funding organizations such the Tides group and the Center for American Progress (CAP). Another interesting connection is Frank Raines, who worked for Fannie Mae and held a trading patient for Fannie. Raines made millions of dollars as a CEO for Fannie Mae. Raines would be a part of CCX, in order to assist with the trading of carbon credits and stood to make millions of dollars.
We still have the effects of the futile efforts to reduce carbon, which does not have an effect on global warming. We see Government funding of solar and windmill companies. Numerous solar companies have gone bankrupt, such as Solydra, wasting taxpayer dollars. General Motors cannot get the dealers to purchase the “Volt” because it is expensive, has battery failures and is not a desirable car to own. Last month, a little over 600 Volts were sold, which is way under the predicted sales. Taxpayers supported the development of this car with the GM bailout.
Hopefully, our Government will cease with its useless funding of companies that return less of a benefit, than tried and true methods of energy production. Also, the profiteers may think twice about carbon trading.

There's still no snow cover in the state that invented the snowmobile. I wonder why that is?

Gary Fouse said...

Don't leave me in suspense. Which state invented the snowmobile? I would say that state is having unseasonly weather. It happens.

Now that reminds me of the summer of 1967 in Germany.......

Gary, I'm with you, but my pesky roommate just pointed out what HE SAYS is a flaw in your reasoning, and I didn't know how to answer that.

He says, "How come that guy writes a post about how cold weather in Alaska, and that only, completely undermines Al Gore and the entire case against global warming, even though it's SUPPOSED to be cold in Alaska...but when someone points out an actual climate ANOMALY, like there being no snow in a place that traditionally has lots of it, he dismisses it as 'unseasonable weather...it happens'"?

Like I said, he can be SUPER annoying to live with. Please give me a response that I can shove up his stupid, smug, liberal posterior.

Siarlys and Gary,

FYI

Joseph-Armand Bombardier, a Quebec born inventor, invented the snowmobile in 1922, he had no idea just how important his machine would become. Today it has become the main method of transportation for many Native people in Canada's North, and it is a fundamental tool for industries such as forestry and power companies. On top of all it's practical money making utility, the modern snowmobile is also, the toy of choice for about three million people in North America. The snowmobile is perfectly adapted to Quebec winters

God,

You could tell your roommate he's a dope.

If you go to Flag, God, USA, Eagle, you get the NASA web site. They are big proponents of GW too. Their current head chingon under Obama stated that NASA's most important mission was making Muslims feel good about themselves.

Great recommended source on GW.

Frankly, I'm glad that they are not trying to go back into space-as long as Obama and his crew are in office.

@ Gary,

In your last comment, do you mean that the Obama administration is "spaced-out"?

LOL

Squid,

Yes, but really just alerting my readers to a little disinformation campaign from the usual anonymous and dishonest commentors.

I can now testify of my own personal knowledge that the inside temperature at the Pettit National Ice Center is still 55 degrees, same as it is supposed to be every day of the year. Therefore, it is obvious that global warming has NOT had any impact on the inside temperature of any of the ice rinks!

(Earlier in the day, I noticed that Muslim families in Milwaukee have kids who are very competitive in chess -- and have expressed no objection to competing in the same tournaments with Jewish kids, or the kids of many races and religions from Golda Meir Middle School, some of whom, incidentally are themselves Muslim.)

Golda Meir emigrated to whatever the Turkish Sultan called the land north, south, east, and west of Jerusalem from Milwaukee. We're very proud of her -- she has a school named after her, also a senior citizens building, probably a few other things I've forgotten. A good old fashioned SOCIALIST Jewish women who knew how to get things done for the people.

She is not known to have said anything on the subject of global warming.eurqui

Ha ha! Glad you caught that, Gary. I meant to point it out but forgot. I usually try and link things that represent what I believe in but I thought you could use the laugh. Did you actually look at all that CRAP? They have a section called "uncertainties". Uncertainties? I guess they forgot to tell that IDIOT Al Gore!

I tried reading through all their "evidence" but all of it contradicts what your article said so it must be nothing but a bunch of LIES!!! And guess what? I hear the Warmist Goreshippers are claiming that only four of the 16 scientists that were polled by the WSJ were "climate scientists." What the hell is a "climate scientist"? There is science. They just want to sound all elitist and better than the people who don't agree by claiming to be "experts" when they're actually DUMBSPERTS.

Anyways I'm going to try and get my own blog set up as soon as I don't have to share my mom's computer anymore. I will link that from now on. With your permission I would like to use you as my "blogging mentor" just as you have with your mentor. Or do I have to wait till you die? LOL JK ROFL

PS I hoep you find my link this time to be a bit more honest.

I think you are a double, no, triple agent.

You know Gary, I've been starting to think the same thing. I fell for this Flag God Eagle USA at first -- so much so that I went out of my way to characterize this supposed Christian fanatic as an idol worshipper. But I'm really beginning to believe he is a sardonic parody on your fan club, rather than a real expression of heartfelt opinion. Maybe its another Lance-in-disguise.

Denying the moon landing was what started to clue me in. That's just a little too contrived bit of conspiracy theory. Although, denying that Armstrong walked on the moon makes about as much sense as denying that human-generated carbon dioxide could possibly be having any bad effects on the climate and weather.

Gary Fouse said...

Siarlys,

What do you mean, "Maybe it's Lance in disguise"?
