I didn't watch Saturday's New Hampshire debate, but I was hardly surprised to learn that ABC's wunderkind, George Stephanopoulos made a fool out of himself with this boffo question to Mitt Romney. Watch as Romney schools Boy George and how George keeps digging himself deeper and deeper. This is classic.
Romney did a great job of handling this and making George look stupid, but I think I would answer it this way:
"Yes, George. I also think states should also have the right to ban sex and burn witches if that's what they want to do." (LOL)
George must have been smoking his socks.

Make that two doofuses. Boy George was introducing a topic out of the blue that is hardly high on most voter's agenda right now -- one of those "what elite cultural liberals think about the vast right wing conspiracy" questions. Romney displayed utter ignorance about the fact that many states have had laws restricting or banning contraception, until the Supreme Court did rule it a matter of individual privacy. The fact that its settled law is another reason the question is kind of dumb.
I remember Steph asking a whole series of off the wall questions at a 2008 North Carolina debate, and the next day in Indianapolis Senator Obama told a crowd "45 minutes before the panel asked one question of any interest to voters." He was right, of course. Boy George prefaced every question with "The people want to know..." as if he had any idea what the people want to know.
I will never forget George Stephanopoulos' quick corretion of Obama when the then candidate for president stated his religion was Muslim. Georgie-porgee said "your Christian religion?
As it turned out, it was features of coming attractions.
