Chris Matthews "Knows What's Going on" With Gingrich

"Chris Matthews, you've got a weak show."

Tonight, LA talk show host Larry Elder took MSNBC's Chris Matthews to task for basically accusing Newt Gingrich of bigotry for the way he answered Juan Williams' question about food stamps during the Myrtle Beach debate. Gingrich basically hit the ball out of the park and into the ocean in his rebuke to Williams. I felt bad for Juan because he like him. He is center-left and has a fair mind. It was a bad question, however. You throw bad questions to Gingrich at your peril.

Anyway, here is Matthews chiming in about "code"with Andrea Mitchell, who was also "alarmed" by the audience's supportive reaction to Gingrich.(Hat tip real Clear Politics)

I mean, Gingrich is a bigot because he called Williams "Juan"??!! After all, it is his name.

What this points up to is two things: To the left, you cannot criticize President Obama for anything lest you be called a bigot. After all, we are being told that if you don't support Obama and you don't vote for Obama, you are racist.

Secondly, how about Matthews' own obvious bias against the South? On numerous occasions, he has made "coded" references to white Southern voters. Here he refers to that white audience in "Myrtle Beach, South Carolina" with contempt dripping from his arrogant, Northeastern lips. He obviously thinks that Southerners are a bunch of ignorant, uneducated hicks who hate blacks. Wake up, Chris. It's a new South. Chris can hardly brag about Boston and Philadelphia, his two stomping grounds, as being paragons of harmony.

But get ready. This can only increase as the election draws near. It is going to be ugly. And when it's over, someday, we will need to assess the Obama presidency and ask ourselves if he really brought us together. Do you think he has thus far?

P.S. Newt Gingrich walked away with that debate-again. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, Chris.
