The Leader of That Arab League Observer Mission to Syria

Hat tip to Foreign Policy.com

"Don't mind us. We're just observers."

As we see the scenes of Syrian forces gunning down protesters in full view of Arab League observers, it might be well to note just who is leading that group of observers. Foreign Policy.com has the report on the Sudanese official who is in charge.

Yes, folks, the organizer of the murderous Janjaweed, that genocidal Sudanese bunch conducting all the killings in the Sudan you have read about. He must be going to Syria on some kind of in-service training mission to learn better methods of committing murder.

The level of deceit in the Arab world is staggering. I'm not suggesting the rest of the governments in the world are that great when it comes to deception. It is just that this gap between representations and appearances is so much different than the actual facts that it amazes me.

Do you think that they actually get together and agree that this situation in Syria is making us all look bad and we should do something about it. Then, when it actually comes down to it, they decide to de-fang it or send observers that are sure to look the other way. Was it the Plan all along or just develop that way?

It's like Congress voting to put in sanctions against Syria but it ended up that Obama could waive them, which he promptly did.
