John Lott's Take on Fast and Furious: Is it Really a Conspiracy Theory?

Fox News commentator John Lott has an interesting (though poorly edited) article on Fast and Furious and how such an insane program could have been concocted.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2011/12/09/fast-and-furious-scandal-cries-out-for-answers/

Mr Lott, the idea that the Obama Administration, through the Holder Justice Department, concocted Fast and Furious to support their claims that most of the guns being used by Mexican cartels came from the US and to crack down on gun ownership is no longer fodder for conspiracy theorists. There is substantial reason to believe that is exactly the case. We know that individuals in the White House were being kept abreast of developments. In addition, there is no plausible way that this scheme was dreamed up by ATF agents. This had to come from political figures in Washington. Figures like Eric Holder's political hires. Figures like Holder himself. Figures like people in the White House. Figures like........

Stay tuned.

I agree with the comment about Lott's story. Actually, I think John Clancy could have done a better job. Or, maybe James Patterson would do. OK, how about Daniel Silva writing the mystery. This whole "Fast and Furious cover-up and conspiracy reads like a novel.

This operation has always sounded to me like a very routine thing for ATF agents to come up with. The notion that guns flowing to Mexican cartels would be used to seize guns from the homes of Americans in Minnesota sounds like pure conspiracy theory to me; when Gary repeats over and over that "it's not a conspiracy theory" he doth protest too much.

What is quite credible is that gun dealers in Arizona who profit immensely from this execrable trade would call on their favorite congressmen to raise a politically slanted stink that might shut the operation down before their trade with the cartels is actually suppressed.

Any retired law enforcement officer peddling this propaganda should be ashamed of themselves.

P.S. It appears that, except for an occasional comment from the Squid and Miggie fan club, I'm the only one who pays attention to WHAT appears on Fousesquawk anyway.
