Christmas in Nigeria
As Nigerian Christians attempt to celebrate the birth of the Prince of Peace, the Muslim terror group, Boko Haram, has struck again.

Many people have come to use the claim of prominent Muslim figures that "Islam is a religion of peace", derisively, calling it "The Religion of Peace" in sarcastic terms. I have tried to avoid that. Yet, how can Muslims expect to be taken seriously when they use that term in earnest given what is going on world-wide?
This brings to mind the deadly bombing of a Coptic Christian church in Egypt during a New Years' mass as a mob pranced around the body parts and yelled, "Allahu Akbar!", as if God wanted His children to kill His children.

Recently, I met a prominent Southern Californi Imam. In a causal conversation, he wanted to impress me on how the Jews were embraced in Morocco, circa 1174-1193 CE. In keeping with the "Religion of Peace" propaganda, he mentioned Moses Miamonides (Rambam) in particular. In his shared information, he indicated that Muslims embraced Miamonides in Morocco. That is farthest from the trust, than can be believed. Rambam was forced to convert to Islam, prior to his terrible oppression by the Muslims. Miamonides soon migrated to Alexandria, where he was embraced by Saladin and became his personal physician. Saladin was a true peacemaker with Crusaders and Richard the Lionhearted. He studied and died in Egypt, as a Jew. Personally speaking, I was surprises that this "expert" would come up with such fantasy. But, he wanted to bring about the impression of Islamic understanding and inclusion.

Squid,
I have heard this as well. I think it was Siddiqi who was telling it. It is a standard talking point at these interfaith meetings.
It was not Siddiqi who said shared this item. It was a Southern Califiornia Imam, will known to the community.

Your logic is rather like asking how anyone could believe Methodists worship a "Prince of Peace" when the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda is cutting children's ears off. Come to think of it, Al Capone was a good Catholic. Does that mean Benedict XVI is a mafia don?
Each of us is responsible for our own actions. Period.
