UNESCO Human Rights Committee Welcomes Syria!

If you still believe that the UN is worth a cent, you need to read the latest on UNESCO. The latest member of their Human Rights Committee is none other than Syria.

Beacon of Liberty

And I thought that UC-Irvine having the honorary Syrian Consul in Orange County as the chair of the UCI Foundation was bad.

Oh, you didn't know about that, did you?

Happy Thanksgiving Gary! Enjoy your turkey.

(Some neighbor kids when I was small used to summarize WW I as "Germany got Hungary, so it took a slice of Turkey, and went to get some Greece." Some bits of WW II mixed up in there. Of course Syria was a French Mandate between the wars).

Off topic; Happy Thanksgiving Gary.

Happy thanksgiving to you, Siarlys.

(I don't even like Turkey, but turkey it is.)

This administration's foreign policy is trying to make this country just one not so special one out of many or it is terribly incompetent.

Miggie, the history of the world is making this country just one out of money. We lost our liberty-loving virginity sometime between entering the Imperialist War of 1914-1918, and coming out of World War II as the dominant military machine in the world. Now we can't afford the cost of dominating the whole world. People are tired of paying taxes, remember? Taxes is what pays for body armor for the troops, not to mention the oil to ship them overseas and maintain the supply lines.

It's still a pretty good country to live in, as countries go, but its not so special any more.
