Today's Cain Update: We Still Don't Know the Truth

Now that a new woman has latched onto Gloria Allred and made her charges, and Herman Cain has come out and vigorously denied her charges, we are still back to square one. We don't know the truth.

In the case of Gloria Allred's client, she has no corroboration. There was no third party witness who can substantiate her charges. She has waited until now over a decade to make her charges public. Cain says it's not true. He doesn't even recall the woman by name or appearance. I could add that the woman in question, in addtion to associating herself with Gloria Allred, comes across as flippant, giddy, or whatever adjective you prefer. Does that mean she is fabricating her story? No. We just don't know. Her charge is unsubstantiated.

As for the other women, it seems that what is crucial is that witnesses to the stories of Cain's improper behavior come forward. One man says he saw it happen. Put it on the record. Make a sworn deposition.

One possible solution might be that the accuser(s) take a polygraph test. If they pass it, then let Cain take a polygraph. (I know. That leads to the argument of how reliable polygraph tests are and who administers them.)

At this point, many people are forming their opinions, as I am. Yet, to be fair, they are just opinions. The smoking gun has not yet come out. If the accusations against Cain are factual, I don't want him to be president. At the same time, I want him to get fair treatment.

How filthy has our political system become? On that, I think we can all agree.

In other news, the sun rose in the east yesterday, and astronomers predict it will do so again tomorrow. Gary Fouse will be reporting on the diurnal cycle in real time first thing in the morning.

blibloo!

The sun didn't rise Siarlys. The Earth has rotated upon its axis and gave the world the illusion of a sun rising.

I don't know anything more that Cain can say. It is up to his accusers to come up with some proof of some kind. It doesn't look like any of the women who have been identified have credible backgrounds.

I don't know of any Democratic politician that has ever been asked by the press to take a lie detector test(which Cain agreed to take anyway).

This just goes to point out and emphasize once again just how liberal and blatantly biased the main stream media really is. It demonstrates this by the treatment of the story, the incredible amount of coverage, and their choice of themes and language.

Compare this coverage to another example: where is the coverage of the John Edwards case? He ran for President (and vice president) on the Democratic ticket. Where was the press demand for lie detector tests to Clinton on any of the many sexual assault accusations brought against him? None of those women were anonymous and they had specifics and evidence to back their stories.

Personally, I think someone in the press had an agenda and dug up some possible scandal on Cain. Some enterprising woman figured she could capitalize and made a public accusation, without any evidence besides her testimony. Someone else figured that she could pile on and came out with more years old accusations without any more basis than her testimony about what happened.

It is unfortunate that the more allegations that pile on, the more plausable it is that something is wrong with Cain, while at the same time there is more safety in numbers for the accusers.

Having been the victim of a former female employee who perjured herself (not about anything sexual) and having been tricked on the witness stand by an attorney, I have an understanding of the unfairness of false accusations.

Any law worth adopting can and will be perverted by someone who can lie skillfully.

I still don't much care whether Cain is guilty or not. This is all a distraction from the real reasons he is unworthy to be president.

But, one point of modest credibility is that the allegedly harassed women had already made their allegations, and received settlements, years before the UnMc ever put himself forward as a candidate. They didn't make the allegations for the first time AFTER he declared he was running.

Right you are Findalis, but the direction of rotation will NOT create the illusion of a sun rising in the west, thus, the conventional presentation.
