Like death and taxes, the ubiquitous LA attorney Gloria Allred has jumped into the middle of the Herman Cain mess. She is representing a 4th woman who says she was sexually harassed by Herman Cain. (Hat tip Daily Caller)
Without debating the merits of this latest woman's claims, it sure is tiresome that we have ambulance chasers like Gloria Allred ready to hold a press conference every time some high-profile guy gets in the middle of one of these harassment issues. As if things weren't crazy enough, now we have Allred hopping all over the country getting her lipstick on every camera.

Update: Gloria has arrived in New York and held her press conference. We now have a name and we have a specific allegation. Take it away, Gloria.

Just what we need-Gloria Allred inserting her loud mouth into a presidential campaign. Of course, she is fresh off helping Jerry Brown back into the California governor's office with one of her clients who used to work for Meg Whitman. Look, it may well be that the new accuser has a case and needs to be heard. If only she could have found someone other than Gloria Allred. Pleeeease pass the Propofol.

I was waiting for her to come out of the woodwork. I guess she got her orders from the Party to destroy Cain.
Now that there is an actual name, face, and allegation out in the public, it changes the situation a bit.
Here people are considered innocent until proven guilty and there has to be some EVIDENCE of some kind to convict someone. Cain should not be required to volunteer all the evidence about why he is innocent because it is the prosecutions' obligation to prove the case. While this is a political case and not a criminal case, so just an allegation goes a long way.
Nevertheless, there has to be some cross examination by the press or the campaign to give some corroborating support for the accusation. Is there a record of the room upgrade? Any recollection by any taxi driver of this trip? Any demonstration of which hand went where? Because it seems to me the sequence of events and the contortions he would have had to do within some reasonable time frame is unlikely. Does her story hold up if she gives more details? I doubt if she could pass a cross-examination by a defense attorney in court.
I also remember that in the case of Paula Jones, one of Clinton's "situations" that Gloria Steinhem herself said it was not sexual harassment by Clinton because he stopped when she said, "NO". In fact, in that case Clinton's attorneys stipulated to the facts that he had taken her up to his room, dropped his pants, exposed himself, and asked for oral sex but when she declined, he did not proceed. Clinton, was convicted (settled for $850,000, disbarred, etc.) for perjury, not sexual harassment.
Additionally, there were actual names and people who accused Clinton in public and gave details. None of that is currently present in this case against Herman Cain.
He is entitled to the same treatment in the press and in public opinion that was given to Bill Clinton. (And if not, then why not??)

Yes, yes, Gary, we all agree on Gloria Allred. She doesn't even qualify as a liberal, and that is a low bar from either your perspective or mine.
Now, could we get the discussion focused on the real merits or demerits of Herman Cain, instead of this side show? Who really cares about Gloria Allred anyway?

That's why Cain is unqualified to be president -- no matter what Gloria Allred has to say.
