Harry Reid's Surtax on Millionaires

Another great idea from Harry the Brain Surgeon Reid. How to pay for Obama's "Jobs" bill? Just slap a 5% surtax on millionaires. That's the ticket!

Why not make it 50%, Harry?  Better yet, let's confiscate all their wealth. See what that does for job creation.

"Oh, but it's just those evil millionaires", you say. They can afford it. Those are the job creators, not Obama and Reid. How many jobs have Obama and Reid created in their lifetimes? Answer-0.

This Marxist thinking will only succeed in removing any incentive to work from the American psyche. Businesses will be unable to hire new workers. Don't people like Reid understand this? (Unfortunately, I think they do.)

And you thought Sharron Angle was dumb!

Millionaires are not job creators. They only hire people when they think they can make money off it. They don't do it out of human kindness. I think you are on the right track -- 50% of all income over $1 million. That leaves most of them several million to spend however they want, while getting the rest of America back to work.

Siarlys,

"50% of all income over $1 million"

Why work harder? Why hire more people?

You can actually confiscate the total wealth of every millionaire in America, and it won't put one person back to work. Your economic hteories have been tried-they failed.

No confiscation involved Gary. I have never known a human being who would walk away from a million dollars, just because they would only get to keep $500,000. If they really want a full million to spend, they'll hire twice as many, to work harder at making them that second million.

Besides, how close have you EVER come to even your first million?

Now you've insulted me... if I thought you meant it.
