As soon as Rick Perry entered the race for the Republican presidential nomination and shot up to the lead as expected, the Democrat talking heads-especially MSNBC- lost no time in rolling out the cannons. Even our "public servants" in the administration, like Education Secretary Arne Duncan, joined in the fray. This week, he told liberal guy Al Hunt and others that Perry's education track record in Texas has left a lot to be desired.
Unlike that Ivy League secondary education system he ran in Chicago.

In addition to all that, here's my question:
Does Rick Perry's Department of Education in Texas have any officials like Kevin Jennings, who was Duncan's "Safe and Drug Free Schools" czar from 2009-July of this year?
If not, I suggest to Mr Duncan that unless he can uncover some Texas education official with that kind of resume, he keep his mouth shut.

Is this the same Arne Duncan who has a Bachlor degree in some socai science and not Education? The same Arne who went off to play basketball in some no-name league, out of the country for four or more years? who does not have a Masters degree in Education? Who got his first real job as a charter school administrator b the vertue of Chicago way politics?
If yes, then Arne has nothing to stand on as a real educator. No cigar Arne!

There is plenty to criticize about education in Chicago.
There is far more to criticize, nay, to view with unmitigated contempt, about the school system in Texas.
But the reflex with which Democratic personalities feel called upon to jump all over the reputation of each new Republican that enters the ring is rather pitiful. These guys will do themselves in if simply left to run their mouths.
Bottom line on Perry: His handling of the Cameron Todd Willingham case disqualifies him for higher office. He has the blood of an innocent man on his hands, literally.
You have to look a bit below the surface to understand what makes up the record.
It may not be PC but facts are still very stubborn things.

Miggie, one of the things you and I share in common, whether you admit it or not, is a contempt for political correctness.
Facts are always stubborn things, once you find them. When dealing with covariants, one has to remember the adage "Figures don't lie, but liars figure."
Even so,this is in fact an interesting comparison. If I had the individual numbers to recategorize, then I would look for unevenness in distribution, such as a clump of very advanced "black" students vs. a clump of very low-scoring ones, with a thinner than expected number in the "average" rankings, and then see if the same comes up in Texas.
Whatever the shape of the schools though, Perry has innocent blood on his hands.
