Speaking to a group of young people hoping to have their immigration status regularized by the DREAM Act in the Senate Tuesday, Senator Dick Durban (D-IL) told them this:
Er, Senator. You have to be born in this country to become president of the US. I think people born elsewhere who came here illegally are excluded.
"Uhhhhh.....yeaaaah."
That'll be DREAM Act 2.

A country that can't protect its own borders just isn't a country just as a dog without teeth just ain't a dog.

There is a term in psychology that describes Freud's "Slip of the tongue". The term is called "Parapraxis". When knowledge stored in the cortex of the brain slips out to uncover an assertion or lie (slip of the tongue), one finds the truth. One case in mind is Barack Obama's reply to a question posed by George Stephenppoulos. Obama's answer to his religion question was: "My Muslim religion". George came back to correct him by saying: "Your Christian Religion"?
In the case with Durbin (D, Il.) he may know of a case where a President, who is not a U.S. citizen, has been seated. One then asks: Who is this person?

Yep, that was a mistake. Any of these American high school graduates who thinks they could be president someday is going to be disappointed. Other than that, an excellent speech, in support of a bill that should be a no-brainer.
I notice Gary found NOTHING ELSE to criticize, and of course the bill itself does NOT purport to authorized naturalized citizens to serve as president. Rather petty, what?
Miggie, I agree with you. But, these kids aren't about controlling the borders. They're already here. They grew up here. They know no other country as their home. If the borders had been better controlled earlier, perhaps they wouldn't be here, just like if we had stayed out of Vietnam in the first place, we wouldn't have had an obligation to admit all kinds of Vietnamese and Hmong refugees.
But, what happened happened. Taking it from where we are...
