Today, the Weenergate scandal went from humerous to sad as Anthony Weiner finally realized that Andrew Breitbart had the goods on him. With the latest Breitbart revelations, things moved very quickly. Today, Weiner went before the press in Manhattan and admitted all. He also admitted that he had lied about it.
I told you at the time that the below article in the Daily Kos by Patience John should be saved for posterity. Here it is again. Read this if you want some yuks.
It would appear that a few things are still to be played out. He says he will not resign. We'll have to see what his constituents and the House and Senate Democratic leadership have to say about that. He says no government property or resources were involved in his activities. We'll have to see about that, but it appears some of the activity took place in his office. He says there was no actual infidelity involved. Hopefully, that is true. Personally, it seems to me that the best Weiner can do for himself is to resign and work on putting his private life back together.
Weiner is a combative and arrogant man, who has made many enemies with his pugnacious style. That will not serve him well now. How many times has he made insulting remarks either to or about his Republican counterparts? How far can he get doing that now? Is his refusal to resign in the face of this scandal just another indicator of his arrogance?
Meanwhile, somewhere else in New York, a former Republican congressman named Chris Lee watches the news conference at home and thinks............
"What the Hell did I resign for?"

Let me check... yep, still couldn't care less about all this.
Yawn? Give me a break. This is great comedy made even better by the fact that this man has the unfortunate last name of "Weiner." Can't get much better than that.
I wouldn't call it a GREAT comedy... a great comedy is a show I would pay $20 to get into. It's a bit of a laugh. It is not, to put the words of Janice Joplin into the mouth of Gary Fouse, "a matter of great social and political importance."
The biggest laugh is that Weiner took the matter seriously enough to deny it. I've never had an interest in photographing intimate details of myself, much less sending them electronically to one or to nine billion people, of any or either sex. But, kinky stuff seems to be endemic in the political class, on both sides of the aisle.
If I were in Weiner's position, my first response would have been "Breitbart, is that your best shot? Don't you have anything more significance to broadcast? Whether that was me or not, it really is of no significance to anyone, except maybe my wife, and I'm not going to talk about it to anyone else."
He should have come clean (so to speak) on the issue. Now his "career" will likely be down the tubes.
The interesting thing about Patient John's column was that not only was he sure that it must have been a hacker who set up Weiner but that he would likely get off easier than the guy they caught hacking Sarah Palin's personal email account.
That's one good thing about being a Democrat, you never have to say you're sorry. You never have to admit you were wrong. All you have to do, at worst, is to minimize the offense or point out that people in the other party have done something just as bad. All those bad predictions and forecasts? Forgetaboutit.
