OC Register Editorial on Jerry Brown and Prison Guard Union

Today's OC register has a lead editorial on our once-and current governor, "Run-Down" Jerry Brown and his slavish service to the public sector unions-particularly, the prison guard union. You won't believe the sweetheart deal that Brown has just signed off on with them regarding vacation days.

When Brown was previously governor some 80 years ago, it was he who allowed public employees to be unionized. Today, the state is basically broke thanks to that and profligate government spending. Brown's solution to balance the budget is to extend the taxes imposed on the state a few years ago even though he promised the voters-no new taxes without voter approval. He is currently trying every trick in the book to get enough Republican cross-overs in Sacramento to put the tax extension on the ballot.

Meanwhile, Brown has imposed meaningless cuts such as taking away cell phones from public employees while making sure that the Prison Guard union, Teachers union and other public sector unions are not cut one dime. Have to honor those contracts, you know. As for the Teachers Union, they are pulling out all stops to get those tax extentions on the ballot and passed so they can cash in on higher pay and benefits on the taxpayers' backs.

It's For the Children, you know.
