Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders went on trial for the second time in the Netherlands for his critical statements about Islam. The first trial ended in the Dutch version of a mistrial when it was discovered that the judge had improperly tried to influence the testimony of an expert witness. And who is to judge? You? I got news for you, my friend. America will never succumb to Shariah law and radical Islamists. That's because there are millions of us including me who will fight to the death to preserve our freedoms.
It was an eloquent speech about a truly alarming situation in Europe. I am at a loss to understand why this development and its logical consequences don't dominate the news and political discourse.
The Left has never been big on consequences. Lionel Trilling wrote about the simplistic, self-righteous liberals who do not know that "good will" and "love of humanity" generate their own problems. What Thomas Sowell now calls "Stage One" thinking about curing humanities problems immediately (with big government cures) points out this disregard and disdain for "unanticipated consequences." I submit the ObamaCare legislation as Exhibit A.
What consequences the Left failed to consider when they opened up their immigration policies has now led to national crises that threaten their societies. That same golden thread runs through the Obama administration as you can see in the environmental and economic policies, foreign affairs and, come to think of it, everything they can touch.

Wilders is delusional, but prosecuting him for saying pointless, baseless, delusional nonsense is pointless, baseless and delusional. A pox on all their houses. What they need is a First Amendment. Then everyone could ignore his silly claptrap.
No civil government is subordinate to any religion. We've had to remind the Roman Catholic princes of this many times in the history of the USA, also certain brands of dominion Protestant theology. and we will always have the same message for those who make such claims in the name of Islam.
Shariah, like kosher and Roman canons, is binding on those who freely choose it as their guide to faithful practice. Nobody else.
But the fact that deluded cowards like "anonymous" spout such nonsense does not lend credence to Wilders's paranoid delusion. A pox on all their houses.

You may think it is delusional that Islam will take over Europe (I hope it is), but that is precisely what the Islamists are saying.
I don't think you know what you are talking about, my friend.
Ah, Gary Fouse thinks the Jihadists are the reliable experts -- if they say it is true then it must be so. That's like saying that if the Flat Earth Society says the earth is flat, they must know what they are talking about, however much the rest of us may regret it.
But Gary hopes I am right. I take some cold comfort from finding another areas where we agree.
