My Letter to Rep. Peter King (R-NY) Regarding Scheduled Hearings on Islamic Extremism

This evening, I sent the following e-mail to Rep Peter King (R-NY) regarding his planned hearings on Islamic extremism.

Dear Rep. King,

I am happy you are going to hold hearings on the problem of Islamic extremism in the US. I urge you to include Steve Emerson and Robert Spencer in your hearings. They are arguably the most knowledgeable on this subject.

As a part-time teacher at the University of California at Irvine, I can tell you that our universities are the focal point of this problem. UC-Irvine is one of the worst examples. No study on this issue would be complete without investigating what is going on in our universities. Just last weekend, there was a three day event at UCLA, the Muslim Student Association western regional conference.

I congratulate you on your decision to hold these hearings, and I urge you not to give in to considerations of political correctness. The stakes are too high.

Sincerely,

At this point, it has been reported that King has decided not to call Robert Spencer and Steve Emerson to testify-reportedly at the urging of Keith Ellison (D-MN). I hope Rep. King will reconsider that decision.
