Jews in The Netherlands

Lance, one of my readers, has asked which European country besides Sweden, is seeing an exodus of Jews. Findalis supplied the answer in the below article about the situation in The Netherlands.

http://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/9914

I have previously written about the anti-Jewish climate in The Netherlands, so there's nothing new here. It is a fact. In the case of The Netherlands, it is particularly sad because of the long-standing Jewish presence in that country. Centuries ago, The Netherlands was a place of refuge for Jews fleeing Iberia (Spain and Portugal), when they were being actively persecuted and killed. They established a major center of Judaism in Amsterdam, from which they spread out to the Americas, Brazil, Curacao and other places.

In Amsterdam, The Jewish community distinguished itself in various professions, the arts and education. They made a real contribution to Dutch society.

Of course, during the Third Reich, many German Jews, like the family of Anne Frank, found refuge in Holland, only to be rounded up and perish in the Holocaust.

Now Dutch Jews face a new threat; anti-Semitism that is stoked by Muslim immigrants to The Netherlands. Many of their leaders have recently advised them to leave. Many are taking the advice and getting out rather than put up with the persecution as the government does little or nothing about it.

A few years back, a Spanish writer, whose name I don't recall, lamented the fact that his country had gotten rid of its Jewish population, which had contributed so much to the country and replaced them with an immigrant community that contributed nothing and had no respect for the values and traditions of their newly-adopted country. That is true in many European countries today including Sweden and Holland. I hope they all enjoy their new society.

Findalis,

We must never allow that day to come in America.

Gary, I attended a speech you gave at
ACT for America. The one thing I remember about your speech was a comment you made about Norman Finkelstein in which you asked him about islamic persecution in the Mid-East and to which he responded: "I'm aware of no such persecution." Could you please give me the complete context of this dialogue?
Thank you, Doug
p.s. A good blog! Thanks for bringing it into being.

Actually Gary, Judaism is a dying religion in the United States.

The number of Jews in the US has been declining both in absolute numbers aswell as in percentage of the total population.

Less Jews = Better, Healthier, Less Corrupt societies

Another example of a copwardly hater hiding behind the "anonymous" tag. Unlike you, I always sign my name to what I write and take responsibility for it. I seriously doubt that you have many accomplishments to your credit to match up to the contributions Jews have made to every society they have belonged to. Corruption? No more than corruption within any other group you could name.

I suspect you are largely driven by jealousy.

Anonymous (who was at the Act event)

My question to the Whither the Levant panel on January 31, 2009 which was given to Finkelstein was about anti-Semitic speech heard at anti-Israel protests in the US-not the Middle East. It went something like this: During recent Gaza protests, pro-Palestinian protesters in Ft Lauderdale, LA, and SF have been heard shouting, "Jews go back to the ovens, Hitler rest in peace, Long live Hitler, Jews as fossil fuel" etc. Will you condemn those statements and don't you think they hurt your cause."

Finklestein replied that he was unaware of those statements, were probably exagerrated or done by Zionsists masquearading as Arabs.

All of those statements are on Youtube and posted on this blog.

Didn't Finkelstein begin his reply by saying "First, I think you are a liar" before he said anything else? He ought to have a more solid factual base before accusing anyone of lying.

But now we're way off track. Jews in the Netherlands, yes? They should stay. If they leave, they are playing into the hands of whoever gave this crass advice. I doubt anyone could work up much of a campaign to have them leave America. After all, Christians in Montana put menorahs in their living room windows when the Aryan nations tried to stir something up out that way. It's only in the concentrated environment of a public university anyone can get the critical mass to make anti-Jewish remarks and expect to be taken seriously. (That's a low bar.)

Wrong Siarlys,

I posed the same question five months later to George Galloway. He was the one who called me a liar. Stand With Us made a nice little video of that event together with the video of the LA incident.

Thanks for giving me the context of the Norman Finkelstein quote.

BTW, your presentation at my ACT for America chapter meeting was informative, interesting and infuriating (this last WRT your descriptions of the MSU anti-zionist
hatefests held at UCI).

Keep up the good work Gary.

OK, Finkelstein is the one with a smidgeon of manners and principles. Galloway is simply a clown.
