Is Democracy Coming to Tunisia? Don't Bet On It

For those of you that anticipate the coming of democracy to Tunisia, you might want to take a look at this video (via Vlad Tepes blog). It was produced by Hizb ut Tahrir (UK), a radical Islamist group with tentacles in the US.

I invite you to check out the website of this charming little group.

This reminds me of the habit of North American leftist factions, whenever a political crisis, scandal, or labor dispute arises, of plastering some second-hand news on their little news rags, then claiming to be leading the way, while advocating wild next steps that nobody is paying attention to.

Yeah, of course a little Khalifate grouplet in London would respond to a shift in power in Tunisia by running headlines calling for whatever they always call for. What does that have to do with the real situation on the ground?

Keep repeating your worst nightmares Gary, and you might lend them enough substance to bring them to pass. Inside Tunisia, all the better placed politicians are also jockeying for power, while people on the street tell reporters "this had nothing to do with them - we were tired of corruption and we did this, without the politicians." The Islamists may find themselves similarly disdained.
