Harry Reid-Six More Years (Thanks, Nevada)
Good old Harry Reid, back for 6 more years, has told in-coming House Speaker John Boehner that he will not succeed in over-turning ObamaCare. Hot Air has the details.
John Boehner's reaction was immediate.
So here we go for 2011 and 2012. I say let the fight begin and let's make it an issue. That should keep the tea-party folks active and fired up. Dry your eyes Boehner and do what you gotta do.

Even if the Republicans could completely repeal the current health care reform, it would be political suicide for them to do so. True, most Americans are dissatisfied with "Obamacare" but from what I read, most of them are opposed to it (two to one, last I read) because it didn't go far enough. In other words, they like what's there, they just want more.
If the Republicans managed to get rid of the current reform, they would find themselves out of office as quickly as they got voted in.
Also, from what I read, they don't have a plan of their own should the current plan be repealed. Maybe they should get to work on coming up with something better. If they can do that and then replace the current plan with a better one, then that would be good for them and probably help their chances for a White House win in 2012.
Reid was just telling him the facts. Boehner has the house. To amend or repeal a law requires a majority of both houses, and signature by the president, or, two thirds of both houses, "the objections of the President of the United States to the contrary notwithstanding." Boehner hasn't got it. Now, could we get on with the real business of getting something done for the people please?
This reminds me, I have a solution for the log jam in judicial appointments. If I ran the zoo, I would call the leadership of both parties in the senate and tell them:
"We all know the score. I'm not going to nominate judges who are on your favorite list, and you are not going to confirm judges on my favorite list. So, you give me a list of people you approve, that you think I would go along with, and I'll give you a list of people I'm willing to nominate, who I think you would go along with. I will give top priority to any names on both lists. Then I'll nominate anyone I can accept who is on your list. Then I'll go on to anyone on my list who you haven't raised a ruckus about. Any vacancies remaining, we each make another list, and go another round."
