Austrian MP Calls Out Turkish Ambassador

Austrian MP Ewald Stadler must be a graduate of the Nigel Farage School of Government. Here, during a session of Parliament, he attacks the Turkish ambassador for his criticism of Austria over the integration of Turks. Stadler also attacks those of his colleagues whom he considers apologists. Give a look. It is in German with English sub-titles.

From his German Wikipedia bio, translated into English:

"Ewald Stadler is an Austrian politician and was a member of the Austrian Freedom party until 2007. He was counted among the so-called 'German National' wing of the FPÖ (Austrian Freedom Party/ freedom party Austria) but was also a proponent of the (previously less known) conservative catholic views in his party. Stadler constantly attracted attention with his controversial statements on the Nazi era. He asserted that the end of the National Socialist(nazi) command in Austria would not give any relief/liberation. In the European elections in Austria in 2009 he was the top candidate of the BZÖ .

Bündnis Zukunft Österreich(BZÖ)= Alliance for Austria’s Future (BZÖ) is an Austrian party . It was founded in April 2005 by members of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ) by Jörg Haider. It is classified as right-wing (right-populist)."

So it sounds like he is a Nazi sympathizer. Interesting bed fellows you keep, Mr. Fouse.

As for your link:

"He asserted that the end of the National Socialist(nazi) command in Austria would not give any relief/liberation."

Either someone has his grammar wrong or he made that statement around the end of World War 2. I doubt that he is that old.

I thought it was humourous and newsworthy. Did I say I subscribed to his comments? I don't know the background of the Turkish ambassador's comments, but it may very well be that he had it coming. As for the comments about Turks as people, no, I would not have said that. I've been to Turkey twice and liked it very much. (including the people).
