Even Dana Milbank Thinks Christina Romer is a Dolt
Christina Romer
Well, "dolt" is my word, not the word liberal Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank used, but he sure made it clear in this column regarding Christina Romer's farewell address a couple of weeks back at the Washington Press Club.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/01/AR2010090106148.html
....."the turnaround has been insufficient."-Romer
Folks, when you hear that from a member of the administration, what it really means is...
"We have failed."
Miserably, I might add.
Keep in mind, Dana Milbank is no conserevative from the Washington Times or Fox News. He is liberal-MSNBC liberal as evidenced by his numerous appearances on shows like Haredball and Countdown. When Milbank blasts someone from the Obama White House in these terms, that is big news.
"That's a big f-------' deal!"
"She had no idea how bad the economic collapse would be. She still doesn't understand exactly why it was so bad. The response to the collapse was inadequate. And she doesn't have much of an idea about how to fix things."-Milbank
What Milbank is saying above is that Romer had no clue. And that's why she's going back to the Halls of Ivy, in this case UC Berzerkely where those that can't do it, teach it.
"The valedictory was becoming more of an elegy. At the end of the depressing forum, the moderator read a question submitted by a member of the audience: "You seem like you'd be a lot of fun at parties. Are you?"'-Milbank
Couple that with Milbank's note that she read her speech, and you can bet that her lectures at Berzerkely will be quite interesting as well.
"So we calculated that the stimulus package would keep unemployment at 8% or less, and that without it, unemployment would rise to 9.5%. So it passed and unemployment went all the way down to......10%.

Well, I agree she's a dolt, because she couldn't articulate what a conservative local business owner, who has expanded during the past year, says about it:
When Obama took office, employers were laying people off. Millions of people were losing jobs. Obama stopped the bleeding. There aren't large numbers of people being hired yet, but we haven't continued to lose jobs as we were at the end of Bush's term.
In the same way, I think Janet Napolitano is a dolt, for saying "The system worked," when passenger on an airline over Detroit took down the underwear bomber.
She could have done the administration a big favor by saying, "This guy slipped through the security system that two administrations have been working on since 2001, and as soon as I find out exactly why, I'll let you know what we are doing about it. I will not let you know in so much detail that it would actually be helpful to people trying to find another way to slip through. They will always be trying to slip through. We are going to provide enough information for the American people to judge what kind of job we're doing, and to feel relatively safe, but not enough to help people slip through."
I guess that takes more than a sound byte to say. I don't think voters would mind. Pundits might, but one thing we agree on is, politicians pander too much to pundits, instead of having faith in the intelligence of the voters.
