For all you movie fans who thought Mel Gibson's screen career was finished....think again. Mel is back with his latest action adventure based on the true story of the Mavi Marmara. (For all you UC Santa Cruz Community Studies majors, that's the Turkish ship that was intercepted by the Israeli Navy several months back trying to sail into Gaza.)
This time, Mel plays Captain Sarper Atajerk, the Turkish captain of the Mavi Marmara as it heroically attempts to deliver food and medicine to starving Gazans only to be attacked by a "pack of Jews" from the Israeli Navy who land on the ship in helicopters. Here are a few scenes from this thrilling movie that will have you on the edge of your seat.
The Good Ship Mavi Marmara
Captain Sarper and his men preparing for the attack
Awaiting the Israelis to come through the door
Knock, knock
"Are you a Jew?"
And click here to listen to an audio excerpt of Captain Sarper telling the Israeli Navy over the radio not to try and board the ship. (In fact, Sarper even threatens to attack the Israeli ship. What cojones!)
Listener discretion advised.

Of course, I don't want to give away the ending, but in the end, the Mavi Marmara fights though the Israeli Navy and makes it to Gaza just in time to save the starving Gazans.
And they all lived happily ever after.

I'm disappointed this hasn't gotten more response. Even Lance didn't put in his two cents worth.
(I've been away from web access for a week or so, and I'm just catching up.)
You cast Gibson beautifully. As you know, I'm not an unreserved fan of Israeli government policy, or American foreign policy toward Israel, but I am a fan of the movie Exodus. You took an off-hand analogy and made a work of art.
