Now that the Waveland Street champs aka Cubs are back in the "friendly confines" of Wrigley Field and enjoying all that home cooking, you would have thought they might rack up a few wins, right?
Wrong.
Instead, the San Diego Padres completed a 4-game sweep of the Cubbies with a 5-3 win as Cub manager Lou Piniella and his bench coach watched helplessly from the dugout.
Meanwhile, ex-Cub Ted Lilly racked up his 4th win as a Dodger by throwing a two-hit shutout against the Rockies while ex-Cub Ryan Theriot chipped in two hits.
"Ain't my f-----' fault! Hendry's the f-----' guy!"
In other news, the Cubs began their rebuilding program by trading aging slugger Derrek Lee to the Braves for three minor leaguers named Manny, Moe and Jack.
"Good news, mein Fuehrer. Now we can start rebuilding."

The Cubs would have won if they had not been stabbed in the back by that sleeper cell in California led by Gary Fouse, which clearly has a secret loyalty to the Padres.
