The Journolist Dialogues

In this breaking story, Jonathan Strong of Daily Caller gives us more insight into the thinking of liberal journalists as they throw ideas back and forth on their Journolist list serve.

http://dailycaller.com/2010/07/21/liberal-journalists-suggest-government-shut-down-fox-news/

How about that law professor at UCLA who thinks the government should shut down Fox News? Jonathan Zasloff, a graduate of the Hugo Chavez School of Law, asks why the FCC cannot pull Fox's broadcast license once it expires. This guy is a LAW PROFESSOR??!! Right. A "law professor" who never heard of that old concept about freedom of the press. What was that, the First Amendment, Professor?

"Uhhh.....yeaaaah."

Not surprisingly, the mainstream media is hiding this story and themselves in the weeds. One has to go to Fox News or the blogosphere to read about it.

Of course, our liberal friends will remind us that no crimes have been committed. None of these ideas were actually done. Just people musing, that's all. Exercising their own freedom of speech. Indeed, some interlocators objected to some of the suggestions. As the late Lakers announcer Chick Hearn used to say, "No harm, no foul."

But what these e-mails do is shine the light on the thinking of the media. This is the institution we depend on to learn about what is happening in the world. This is what we depend on to learn the truth and hold government accountable-except when it's a Democrat government.

Oh my, after reading those quotes, it was "suspicions confirmed." None of them addressed the substance of the arguments, they just leapt to the worst kind of ad hominum attack. The Left always believes it has the purest of motives and therefore anyone on the other side must be evil. As John Dean said, "Republicans want children to go to bed hungry" (or something very close to that).
The Democrats are more emotional and hysterical as a rule, seeing some crises all the time that can only be fixed with bigger government and more regulation ... more taxes and less freedom to the citizens. Republicans don't see the Democrats as evil, just soft headed and unwilling to consider consequences.
The people in that email circle were vicious and certainly unwilling to consider the consequences of shutting down a network that disagrees with them.
