Oakland Protesters Boycott the Wrong Ship

Hat tip to Pro-Israel Bay Bloggers. Photos by Indybay.

On Sunday, an anti-Israel crowd showed up on the Oakland docks to stop an arriving Israeli ship from unloading. Dock workers and longshoreman, arriving for the shifts, decided not to cross the picket line.

"Free free Palestine! Don't cross the picket line!"

Here is what protest organizer Richard Becker had to say:

"This is the first time [that] an Israeli ship was blocked from unloading in a U.S. port… We consider this to be a huge victory and a historic moment.”

So a wonderful day was had by all as the 200-500 protesters (according to various estimates) succeeded in delaying the unloading of the arriving ship for some 12 hours. There was just one problem, however.

The Israeli ship hadn't yet arrived because it was delayed for several hours. It was actually a Chinese ship that was prevented from unloading.

"Free free Tibet! Don't cross the.........?"
