Harvard Faculty Crime Wave Continues

Hat tip to Hot Air

Mamas, don't send your kids to Harvard. The place just isn't safe anymore. First, Henry Louis Gates gets busted and President Obama, of course, blames the cops. Now this:

Did'ya like the excuses this couple gave the cops and the press? Seventy minors taken into protective custody! Never saw a thing, Officer.

"Drinking? What drinking?"

And isn't it interesting that these two "intelligent" types also pulled out the race card?

Sure enough, according to our professor friends, forget about the fact that we had a bunch of teenagers drinking themselves silly in our house (which we didn't see anyway. We were too busy doing research in the cellar.) What's really important is that the cops allegedly made some inappropriate statements to some minority students.

That's the ticket.

I have a wonderful idea how we can resolve this unfortunate situation. Let's have a beer summit at the White House for the Boyds and the arresting cops. (No minors, of course.)

You appear to have lost your sense of the sacred rights of property. Once again, you carelessly homogenize two incidents, which have in common only the presence of the police, the educational level of the civilians involved, and some reference (valid or invalid) to race.

With the luxury of 20/20 hindsight, I can assert that Professor Gates and the arresting officer should each have stopped to consider what position the other was in. The officer should have recognized that to be asked to produce ID in the privacy of your own home to prove you live there is rather demeaning. Professor Gates should have recognized that IF the officer was dealing with a smooth-talking burglar, left because the burglar said "I live here," and later learned that the real owner came home to find thousands of dollars of property missing, the officer would have been roasted for negligence. It is unfortunate we don't all know each other on sight anymore, but we don't live in small communities.

That, all things considered, was worthy of a beer at the White House.

A couple of professors host an underage drinking party? Throw the book at them! Let's show a little discernment here. They deserve it.

Maybe, just maybe, some of the kids have a valid complaint, but not much of one. However, the kids are considered victims of the horrible crime of the responsible adults, right?

Pls refer to my previous articles on Gates.

I tried to find it, but you have such a mass of posts, and my mere one GB RAM doesn't deal well with massive numbers of videos, so even a SEARCH turned up too much material to wade through. Care to provide a direct link?
