Two Orange County Politicians Speak Out on UC-Irvine Incident of February 8th

The below article by the Jewish Journal describes how two Orange County politicians, Chuck DeVore (R) and Rep. John Campbell (R), have weighed in on the February 8th disruption of the Israeli ambassador's speech at UCI with letters to UCI Chancellor Michael Drake.

Devore, who is running for US Senator against Barbara Boxer, was the first to send a letter to Drake. In the recent past, he has attended events at UCI sponsored by the Muslim Student Union, where he has successfully challenged the attempts of the MSU to enforce segregated seating by gender and prohibitions against recording the events. In the case of Orange County representative Campbell, whose district includes UCI, it took a lot of prodding from the community to get him to take a stand. Until now, he has been silent.

Better late than never.

These are both positive and important letters. There needs to be more of this and I wish the Jewish community would really stand up and fight for their equal rights to be heard and accounted for on our universities and colleges. Great job on covering this, Gary.
