Chris Matthews and Ethan Bronner Discuss "Israeli Racism Against Obama"

Last week, MSNBC's off-the-wall commentator Chris Matthews was interviewing Ethan Bronner, the New York Times Jerusalem Bureau Chief, who opined that the Israelis have a prejudice against President Obama because he is black. Matthews seemed to agree.

Matthews: "Is it his middle name...Hussein?"

Well, I've never been to Israel and Bronner works there, so I won't argue the point. To me, however, it seems that this is another one of Matthews' indictments of anybody who isn't seen as being on Obama's side as being "racist". Of course, we all know about the diplomatic problem in the past few days between our two countries and Israel's perception that Obama isn't much on their side.

So does this mean that if relations continue to deteriorate, we will be subject to a running campaign to paint Israel as racist against blacks?

Well from what I hear Ethiopian Jews in Israel face a great deal of prejudice so there might be something to it.

Anonymous,

I don't know if that is true or not, but if so, then why did Israel bring the Ethiopian Jews to thier country in the first place? Why did Israel send a team to Haiti?

I suspect if Obama had showed himself to be a strong Israel supporter, he would be wildly popular there.
